How we operate - Terms and Conditions
We are most concerned for you to be furnished the utmost information possible before deciding to purchase an object. Upon request, and wherever possible and practicable, a Full Description, Research Documentation and Condition Statement will be forwarded to you electronically as a PDF/PS-file or by fax. Where research proves to be inconclusive, or where there may be doubt, this will be stated also. Please bear in mind that old (< 100 years) and antique (> 100 years) objects have had some use over many years; a Condition Statement, therefore, does not constitute a product description of new merchandise. Providing you with a Condition Statement represents part of our commitment to you within the Contract Agreement.
Contract Agreement
The Contract Agreement is established and becomes effective once we accept a buyer's binding Order. Our Terms and Conditions shall be part of the Contract Agreement. The Contract Agreement is made under the Laws of England and Wales and is subject to the exclusive Jurisdiction of the Courts of England and Wales to which both parties hereby submit.
Orders
Orders will be confirmed by e-mail or fax within 24 hours, Mondays to Fridays, provided the object selected is still available upon ordering. In an effort to avoid returns - inconvenient to both parties - we strongly recommend buyers to carefully study our Condition Statement and other Documentation supplied before placing an Order. Please do not hesitate to communicate with us until you are confident and completely satisfied with the information provided. Your satisfaction is imperative to us.
Purchase + Payment
As soon as funds have cleared, buyers will be issued a Receipted Invoice and any other relevant Documentation via postal services (overseas: by air mail) and under separate cover from any shipment. Additionally, we will notify you by e-mail or fax of the Consignment ID Number and the estimated Delivery Date of the goods. For modes of payment please consult Order+Purchase. All Purchases include the Right of Return (see below).
Shipping + Packing
We ship worldwide. Charges for Shipping & Handling and Packing apply. An order of multiple objects usually will reduce such charges. At our discretion we may wave these charges in some cases. Following the clearance of funds, goods will be shipped within five working days, Mondays to Fridays. Objects up to the value of GPB2500.00 will either be shipped via Royal Mail services or by Parcelforce Worldwide. The choice of service depends on the insured value of each object. We shall advise you in advance of the shipping and insurance costs. Large consignments, i.e. furniture, that may not be handled by above services, or objects over and above the value of GBP2500.00, will be packed or crated and handled by other forwarding agents. Outsourced packing or crating may delay shipments. To ensure that goods will arrive intact we always take great care in their packing. The responsibility of guaranteeing that a shipment can be received and be signed for lies with the buyer.
Insurance
Unless agreed otherwise the Insurance Arrangements and Insurance Charges of the carrier apply.
Taxes + Levies
Buyers are responsible for any Taxes and/or other levies. Please check your country's duty taxes when importing 'antique over 100 years old' objects - a crucial term in the EEA/EU that also may be recognised by your country's customs authorities for possibly reduced tax rates. Where applicable, our shipments will be labelled accordingly. We do not collect Value Added Tax (VAT).
Right of Return
Should you feel the description or condition of your purchased object not to be corresponding with our documentation, you have the Right of Return provided we are notified within 48 hours of its receipt. We do not believe in categorically and misleadingly stating an old or antique object to be in mint condition. Instead, we are appealing to buyers' discernible judgement in realising that all objects we offer for sale have had a certain amount of use and, thus, should not be considered new; the Right of Return on merely those grounds shall not apply. Goods to be returned must be shipped within a reasonable space of time. A justified refund of the full purchase amount excluding original shipping costs will be implemented as soon as we have received the returned object in precisely the condition in which it was dispatched. Return shipping costs and return insurance costs and risks are at the buyer's expense. Insurer's instructions stipulating the means of return shipment apply.
Data Protection
All communications are handled and processed confidentially. Following a successful transaction, buyers' sensitive information will be destroyed. We abide by the UK
Data Protection Act and the regulations as set out by the European Union.
Other Services
For insurance and claims purposes we provide Expert's Reports and Appraisals. Such services incur a fee that both parties shall agree upon in advance.
