Pap Boat

George II

A handraised pap boat, Sterling Standard (925‰ silver), fully hallmarked, London 1748, without maker's mark. As hallmarking only took place once a master struck his mark, it can only be assumed that it was struck too shallowly and polished off over time. One side is engraved with the heraldic insignia of a lion. Dimensions: 3.5cm (1.37ins) high at spout, 6.7cm wide x 11.00cm long (2.63ins x 4.33ins) measured across the top. Wonderful patina and in excellent condition.
