This vase or bowl could well have been manufactured by Whitefriars of London, who typically used the controlled air bubble inclusions and this particular amethyst colour that is listed in the glassworks' 1949 colour range catalogue. By the mid 1950s it was replaced by a different colour scheme while the controlled air bubble inclusions gave way to plainer patterns.
